To be more exact, Electronics Arts released today the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012 game for Android, where it’s sporting a not so bad price point of $4.99. Of course, golfing fanatics are sure to snag on this game, especially now that it seems Tiger has managed to get his groove back. In any event, the game is available to download for any Android 2.1 and up devices – so that’s the one stipulation in order to experience this game.

Some of the features of the game include the following:

  • Playing on PGA courses such as St. Andrews and Pebble Beach
  • Choosing the golfer you play as and competing against other scores
  • Playing alongside other pros to see how your score stacks up
  • Customizing your own golfer to make them look however you want
  • Playing head-to-head against a friend (WiFi or Bluetooth)
  • Playing the Tiger Challenge, which is a bunch of mini-games to test various skills

Needless to say, if your real-world swing isn’t on par to the professionals, you can relive all of those PGA Tour moments by simply playing the game. Just make sure to hold onto your device, as opposed to accidentally throwing it, as you snag a birdie at the last round of your game.

SkyDrive app for Android coming soon

SkyDrive app for Android coming soon, according to rumors

According to a tipster for Neowinthere is an Android SkyDrive application in the works. How does he know? In a nutshell, he read it in a document obtained from the public folders of SkyDrive team members. The documents that leaked the information have already been taken down, yet the tipster managed to take snapshots of the evidence, although he prefers not to reveal them.

There are little details as to how the app will operate or how it will look. However, there appears to be a new feature incoming – Recycle Bin. It is speculated that this is added for backup purposes, so if a user deletes a file or needs a document's older version, a backup will be available for restoring. Supposedly, this feature will eventually come to all SkyDrive flavors, including the service's mobile and desktop apps.

If the leaked information is to be believed, the Android SkyDrive application should be out by the end of July. Will it be more convenient to use than the alternatives such as Dropbox or Google Drive? Only time will tell.

Motorola XOOM ICS update soak test may have started

Posted by Unknown

The Verizon Motorola XOOM was the very first tablet to get Android 3 Honeycomb. Sadly, that is still what runs on the device. However, rumor has it that an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the XOOM is right around the corner

Word comes from Motorola Feedback Members who have been invited to test a new software update for the Motorola XOOM. Whether this is Android 4.0 or not is still a mystery, but since the software is scheduled for a release in Q2, this could finally be it. Also, it has been over a month already since we had news about a leaked early version of the update. And by the way, those folks toldDroid-Life that it didn't matter whether the XOOM had its LTE radio installed or not; the new software would still work.

So cross your fingers, Motorola XOOM owners. Your tablet might be getting a fresh dose of Ice Cream Sandwich pretty soon. We will let you know as soon as the official Android 4.0 update goes live.

Best new iPhone, iPad and Android games for May 2012

Posted by Unknown

Wow, what a month for new games was this May! We had plenty of big launches, and no shortage of witty puzzle games along with a couple of addictive racing titles to keep everyone entertained.

You probably already heard about the big two new launches - for us these were Sonic 4: Episode II and NOVA 3 by Gameloft, available for both Android and iOS. SEGA’s return with Sonic 4 is spectacular - the game looks stunning, and will remind of a decade ago when you rocked your 16-bit console in front of the TV screen. Some things never change (except for the TV screen that is!) And NOVA 3 will have you shooting galactic enemies, all spiced up with jaw-dropping graphics and the quality you’ve come to expect from Gameloft’s series.

But that’s far from everything we’ve picked for you this month. There are two extremely addictive racing titles we wholeheartedly recommend you trying out - Slingshot Racing and Mini Motor Racing for iOS. Both top-down racers will surprise you with a great combination of graphics and physics.

For those looking for a bit calmer, deeper adventure game we give our thumbs up and recommendation for Lostwinds 2: Winter of the Melodias. The sequel will bring you a real storyline, and game characters and visuals that will allow you to dive right in adventure.

There’s plenty more below, all games worthy of being in our selection of the best new mobile games for May 2012. But we may have missed some - so don’t hesitate to let us know about your favorites for this month in the comments below.

Also, you may want to check out our selection of best new games for April 2012, a lot to see there as well.

Android 4.0 now found in 7.1% of Android devices

Posted by Unknown

As time goes on, it shouldn't be surprising to see more and more Android devices sport Android 4.0. Just like we've seen over the years when a new Android build is released, the new software slowly picks up traction until it soon grabs a majority of the market share. Ice Cream Sandwich is now powering 7.1% of Android devices, up nicely from the 4.9% seen in last month's data. Android 2.3, which at one time was where Android 4.0 is now, has a marketshare of 64.6% to lead the way, an increase of .6% from the previous month. The data used for the charts come from the last 14 days ending June 1st

The increase in Android 4.0 use over the last month is probably due to the launch of a number of new ICS flavored phones such as the HTC One series as well as updates being rolled out to older models. Android 2.2 still accounts for almost 1 in every 5 Android units. The 19.1% slice of the pie owned by Froyo powered models will continue sliding lower as more owners update to the latest models.

Tablet OS Honeycomb has a 2.7% marketshare as more Android tablets launch with Ice Cream Sandwich. And lastly, those using a phone with Android 1.5 to 2.1 installed still make up 6.1% of users. The Historical Distribution chart shows that 75% of current Android models are working with Android 2.3.3 or higher.
